Description

About the Grant

The AFCPE Insight to Impact grant will fund collaborative projects between researchers and practitioners that:

  • Connect people, projects, ideas & knowledge between research & practice.
  • Expand understanding & implementation of evidence-based practices.
  • Develop models/pilots and best practices in the personal finance profession.
  • Build access, equity & capacity for researchers, practitioners, and communities served.
  • Advance knowledge for the general public as a whole.

Eligibility

To be eligible, projects must support AFCPE mission and the Insight to Impact grant program goals. Projects must also meet these requirements:

  • At least one of the principal researcher(s) or practitioner(s) must be a current member of AFCPE, in good standing.
  • Seek funding in the amount of $10,000-$50,000. For guidelines on submitting your budget, click here.
  • Have a duration of 24 months or less.
  • Have a clear research design, using appropriate methodologies.
  • Disseminate results to personal finance professionals and the general public,
  • Present results in-person at the AFCPE Symposium.
  • Describe how the project addresses the four questions in the AFCPE Equity Screen
  • Fulfill the requirements described in the Institutional Review Board statement, if an applicable institution.
  • Have a grantee that has a U.S. Tax ID# or a SSN.

Preferred Elements

Projects that encompass one or more of these optional elements will be given preference in the selection process:

  • Address one/more areas of personal finance, as described in the AFCPE Core Competencies
  • Center on nonprofit entities, AFC® professionals, and/or financially at-risk, marginalized or under-represented professionals/communities.
  • Include a path to be sustainable or scalable.

Grantee Requirements

  • Execute the grant contract.
  • Adhere to the periodic reporting requirements.
  • Disseminate results to personal finance professionals and the general public.
  • Present results in-person at the AFCPE Symposium.

Selection Criteria

A review committee will select individuals  or organizations whom they believe are most likely to leverage the opportunity. The committee uses an evaluation rubric based on the grant program goals, requirements and preferred elements. The review committee determines which LOIs meet the criteria to submit a full proposal. A Full Proposal Review will then take place to select proposals recommended for funding. The AFCPE Board makes the final decision. Decisions of the Board are final.
